Professionally
After graduating from Mankato State University with a degree in Accounting, I worked for several years in various Fortune 500 companies. But I always wanted to work with people, money, and investments. In the early 90’s, the primary way to do that work was to sell products (annuities, life insurance, etc.). I am not a natural salesperson and the conflicts of interest were not acceptable to me. I knew I wanted a practice that treated clients how I would want to be treated.
Imagine my excitement in 2002 when I came upon a fee-only financial planning practice model! I set out to add the CFP to my CPA credentials, started a fee-only financial planning practice and the rest, as they say, is history. The growth over these 15+ years has been phenomenal. I value the trust and confidence my clients have in me as they provide numerous referrals of their friends and family.
I love developing financial plans that save clients on taxes, and investment strategies that help them meet their goals. I enjoy the complexity and intersection of investing, tax, estate planning, and all financial pieces. I can really “geek out” on the numbers stuff.
But the part of my work I enjoy the most is meeting with my clients. I love the stories they tell, the concerns they share, and the accomplishments they achieve. I consider myself blessed every day to be working with such great clients doing the work I love.
Personally
My husband and I have 3 adult daughters. We are an active and close family that spends lots of time together. We are closing in on the empty-nest phase and excited to see what that brings. We live in a southwest suburb of Minneapolis and enjoy all that the 4 seasons bring to Minnesota. Of course, that means we are Minnesota Wild hockey fans. During warmer weather, we will be playing outside with our dogs or riding our motorcycles.
